Wierd Network Issue

already tried that as an option - no difference. I popped a PCI NIC in the wifes machine and it's working now, which kinda implies I have a hardware failure I think? times two

Wierd Network Issue

30,000 files in one folder is a lot. I don't think explorer has ever been particularly great with such big numbers. If right clicking a file is also abit slow, it could be that you have registry entries assigning file extensions to apps which no longer exist. Run regclean (if you can still...

Thanks all. yes AUD means Australian Dollar. I looked up 9800pro and they hover around $350-$400 mark. The X800pro which Cawchy87 mentions is way expensive - $700-$850 and mostly around the high 7s. Can't justify spending that much I'm afraid. So it looks like the 6800 is the way to go...

unstable system

you've checked for virus's too right? Go with Monzie's suggestion and strip the thing to bare minimum - it might just be one component is causing you headaches. If the Mobo has CPU temps in the BIOS, check they are acceptable
