Depends on what your son's special preferences are. If he's the type who's really into computers and whatnot, then I'd give him a budget (assuming it's your money) and leave it up to him to decide what he wants. If not, then you'll have to consider a few things. If he's into gaming, a desktop...
I've pretty much figured out everything I'm going to fit my 9300 with, except for the screen. I have a choice between a WUXGA resolution with TrueLife (glossy screen which doesn't really make a difference either way to me) (1920X1200) or a WXGA+ resolution (1440 x 900). I do a bit of video...
I've been looking around at RAM, and this is what I've come up with:

Thanks...what a great feeling, seeing the price go down by $750. Looks like I could get a 60GB HDD for $30 more if I sell the original 40GB on ebay, they all seem to be going for around $70 Buy It Now for the 40 GB and around $100 Buy It Now for the 60GB. Ram I should be able to pick up at...
Hmm...I suppose I could get a few bucks swapping the old HDD out and selling on ebay, and RAM is never hard to find a deal on... Looks interesing...any other ideas? Also anybody know anything about student discounts via Dell (if there are any)?
*NOTE* This thread has been edited; before I was asking which laptop to buy; now that I've decided, about 16 or 17 posts into the topic is when I edited this.
I'm buying one for college. I'm getting it for gaming, school, and some processor-intensive applications (i.e. video editing.) And...
