Dead harddrive-any hope?

I lost a dynamic disk once. I had to go to: (with XP) Control Panel Administrative Tools Computer Management Storage Disk Management I think the physical drive showed up, and I had to "mount" the dynamic drive. (maybe by right clicking on the drive) I got the whole drive back...

WinXP/Asus P5B D doesn't recognize NEC 7170 DVD

I installed a new P5B deluxe and windows XP, and windows is not recognizing the NEC 7170 DVD drive. The drive worked before with another MB, the P5B is recognizes the DVD upon Boot Up, but the drive is not there after Windows loads up. I've tried Master, Slave, and Cable options with the...

ECS P4M800 Pro

I've bought two of the Fry's combos. I have a GF6800 in one of them that works fine. But.. I did have a problem for a little while, but it seemed to be corrected by reseating the video card. If neccessary, try reseating the video card until it works. Also, make sure your bios is set to AGP...

Win Task Mgr shows 1 CPU on Intel 930

I have a WinXP instalation where Task Manager Performance is only showing one CPU Usage History. Device Mgr shows 2 CPU's as working properly. If I boot to a different hard drive, TM Performance shows 2 CPU windows as expected. Should I be concearned about the install that does not show...

Dell 2007WFP for $359

I have two 2005 fpw's and 1 2007 wfp, and all three are great monitors. I never understood the 2005 backlight issues, and the 2007 banding is unapparent in my usage. I rate the 2005's at a 97, and the 2007 at a 93 (only because I prefer the color shade of the 2005's, for instance the 2007...

just got my 2005fpw and.....

I got mine Tuesday, and it is great. I want to buy another, but I don't want my wife to get mad at me. She wouldn't understand. dl ps: My Sony S74 is now hooked up to vga, and the colors are not as bright compared to the Dell.

3.2 Prescott overheating 87C

I just started the computer again, after being away for dinner. Now I find that MS AntiSpyware was running at 30% CPU usage and getting the CPU up to 80C after five minutes. I shut down MS AntiSpyware, and five minutes later, its back down to 56C. Sounds like the CPU is doing loops...

3.2 Prescott overheating 87C

I find that statusclient.exe is in the HP folder. I've had problems before with their software. I have a HP 1012 and a HP 6540 hooked up. I guess I'll have to play with /uninstall some of the progs. I Quit statusclient.exe, had to reboot, and temps are dropping now. dl

An hour later, and I come back from the whirlpool. The CPU is at 84C/185F. The MB is at 37C/98F. I have an nView Desktop manager message that says statusclient is not responding. I think I'll try uninstalling/disabling nView. dl

3.2 Prescott overheating 87C

Right now my CPU is fine at 54C/129F. The MB is 36C/96F. The CPU was a Retail processor with Intel fan. I can't believ the fan would need replacing after three months, unless it stopped working completely. I do notice some dust collection. I agree it's rediculous. I can only imagine...

3.2 Prescott overheating 87C

I suspect my 3.2 prescott is overheating and causing spontaneous shutdowns the last two weeks. Three months ago, I built a new system with a ASUS P4P800SE and Antec 1650 case with 350 watt PS. It ran fine for a couple of months, and I was able to overclock it 10% with no problems...
