Just nabbed bios 0801 from Asus' ftp, listed improvements:
1. Fix system hangs when using Razer Copperhead USB Mouse.
2. Improve compatibility with Creative X-Fi sound card.
Wondering if there is an unlisted #3 improvement, something about removing the complete crappyness that was the...
Mine's not socketed, and I don't believe anybody else's is socketed. But that shouldn't be much of a problem because of:
CrashFree BIOS 2
* Simple BIOS auto-recovery process
The CrashFree BIOS 2 feature now includes the BIOS auto-recovery function in a support CD. Users can reboot their...
Your problem is your cooler, "Core2Duo E4300 @ 3.0, Zalman 7000B-AlCu". I had a Zalman 7000cu and gave it a shot, but that old technology was just not efficient at getting the heat away from a hot chip like a C2D. Get something better with heatpipes. We have the same chip, look at my sig...
I highly doubt that there would be any changes to the 0505 bios without a change to its version number. As 0505 doesn't save user changes to the CPU multiplier, it is a flawed bios that was rightfully taken down from the website. Just wait for the next version which will likely come out sooner...
Your temps are fine, though the mobo temp is higher than average here. Perhaps if you removed some of the slot covers on the back of your case it would go down.
But what do you mean "cpu at 34"? Core temp?
Anyway, there's a new version of the Core Temp software that correctly reports...
Good "old" days? The build I just did with this motherboard included replacing my Ti4400 with a 7900GS. That card wasn't that old at all!
Good old days was back when you couldn't change the video card because it was integrated into the motherboard (ala Commodore). Good old days was 19xx. ;)...
CONFIRMED: 0505 bios doesn't remember the setting for "CPU Multiplier" and resets to default on reboot.
I was able to upgrade from 0502(beta)->0505 via EZ Flash 2.
I was also able to downgrade from 0505->0502(beta) via EZ Flash 2.
I'd assume that the unsaved CPU multipler is a bug and...
Your 424 testing was done at CL5, which gives a bit of a performance hit compared to your testing at other speeds which was all done at CL4. That said, you can see how at 424 you had some of tyour highest scores, and those that weren't the highest or only had a small margin would be much higher...
There's been talk about enabling the "Enhanced C1 (C1E)" option in the bios as a way to lower idle temperatures. But it doesn't work unless you're running at stock speed.
Overclocking the processor changes how the bios handles it externally. Look at what happens in the following scenarios...
Allendale doesn't run 15C hotter, it has a basis point 15C higher. Refer to my previous post for the link, or use Google for more info.
It's more than obvious that the core temps are being under reported. How can the "core temps" be LOWER than the "CPU temp" (which is measured by a sensor...
Okay naysayers, here's the deal regarding E4300 temps in simple English. The E4300 has a basis point for determining core temperature of 100C along with the new steppings of the E6300 and E6400 that are based on Allendale. The previous Conroe steppings had a basis point of 85C.
What does...
App is incorrect, it reverses MAINBOARD and CPU temperatures. It also under reports E4300 temps by 15C like every other app. Overclock tab works for me though.
MAZ & E4300 users:
Since the E4300 seems to usually peak out around 3.3ghz-3.4ghz, here's how you can get a performance boost: In the bios set the CPU multipler to "x8". Then select a QFSB from 1650 to 1696 (1700+ drops performance). Set your RAM speed at half of your selected QFSB and...
Yup. The 400-424 fsb range is PERFORMANCE (not "fsb hole"). It really pushes up the memory timings. Start at 424 and work your way down until you're stable. I bet you won't be able to hit 1T timing since the ram timings are already so tight in this range. Sound quality is also nice on the...
