I am planning to buy a couple of large capacity hard drives to expand and reorganise my media collection. I see a lot of noise being made about SATA3 and USB3 being much faster then the current lot. Most of the new motherboards also seem to have these. But I cant seem to find many HDDs with...
Thanks, I had a look at the threads. Looks like I will have to go for ddr2 only boards. Don't want to risk getting cought out and needing to buy new rams. Looking for something cheap, with firewire support. Any recommendations?
Thanks for the replies. I have a e4500 processor. I think thats a 800 FSB processor. My current specs are in my signature. The reason for my question is most of the new motherboards now says it supports ddr2 667 and upwards. For example, if I were to consider the ASUS P5KC as my next board, it's...
Hello
I am looking for a motherboard upgrade. Is there backward support for DDR 2 533 ram on a motherboard that has the 667 as the lowest speed for RAM? I'm not really keen to dish out extra for RAM if I can keep my perfectly working 2GB DDR2 533 speed rams. Not thinking of overclocking...
Is anyone using the suspend to RAM function properly with this board? I am at present running at stock speed and the PC goes into suspend mode easily both in XP and vista but has difficulty waking up. When I wake up the PC the power and chasis fans come on but the HHD's don't seem to powerup and...
Well, I looked at the device manager. In details mode both my SATAII drives have IDE in the beginning of the string. I have one SATA1 drive on a SIL Image SATA controller Card and that has a SCSI in front of it. Now the surprising thing is in HD Tach that drive has a much poorer speed, approx...
Hmm. Just Checked with HD Tach. Both my SATA drive are showing burst speed above 150. 166 and 172 to be precise. I definitely did not Load any SATA drivers during XP installation and as far as I remember my settings are non-raid in BIOS. I did install the VIA chipset driver after XP install and...
There has been some talk about SATA drives being seen as IDE drives a few pages back. I presently have a couple of SATAII drives hooked up. How can I check if my drives are actually running in SATA mode or IDE mode? How can the operating system access a SATA drive on SATA port without running it...
Just a quick question to the people who've done the BSEL mod. Does it cause problem in other boards if I lateron change my Motherboard? Does other boards see it as a 1066 fsb processor? Thanks.
FYI
Vista installs without any issue with BIOS 1.9 and ATI 3870. However after installing the catalyst drivers I had to manually activate the AERO in vista. So far on minimal testing no apparent problems.
Well, got my GeCube 3870 overclocked edition at last. I had thought I could just install the latest catalyst drivers (8.2) from ATI but I had to install the ATI HDMI audio driver separately as well. But installing this card seems to have broken my Suspend to RAM function. The PC goes into...
Well, suspend works ok and all fans stop when I run my e4500 at stock speed. I have reached 266 FSB and fans just would not stop if I overclock. So it look to me more related to overclocking.
