8INXP + Radeon 9700 = NO OC ?

Make sure you have the latest BIOS loaded - that's the best place to start. -D

Need Help choosing a mobo

I have had both the SIS655 and NForce2 boards - both platforms are very good. Personally, I found the P4 to be a bit more stable and responsive. Just my opinion. As far as the "sweet spot" for AMD, 2100 is supposed to overclock very well and costs about $100 retail. -D

Need Help choosing a mobo

That's for sure - I'm getting about 3,700 MB/s in dual channel mode compared to 3,200 MB/s in single channel mode. This is w/ dual Corsair XMS 3200LL modules @ 148 MHz. 100% stable making my P4 2.8 run @ 3.1 GHz => very fast. -D

Sis655 owners!!! Need your results...

I have been running my Gigabyte 8SQ800 @ 148 MHz 24-7 for 3 weeks running my P4 2.8 @ 3.1 (21x148). I would have liked to get a bigger OC but, I do a lot of DV editing and need 100% stability so 148 was about as far as I was willing to go. This is at stock voltage w/ the retail HSF. -D

I have a Gigabyte 8SQ800 which uses the SIS655 chipset and I like it a lot. The only chipsets to offer dual channel DDR support right now are SIS655 and Intel E7205. SIS655 is much cheaper than E7205 and offers the same (if not better IMO) performance. The new Canterwood chipsets by Intel are...

Cant Decide between a ASUS P4S8X or Gigabyte GA-8PE667 ULTRA2

I had so many problems w/ my E7205 that I sold it and bought a (cheaper) SIS655. I've been using the Gigabyte SQ800 for about 2 weeks now and Have yet to have it crash. I wouldn't buy the P4G8X or any other E7205 if I were you, invest the extra $ in something else. -D

P4G8X or P4T533

I really liked the i850 chipset but, lets face it RAMBUS is on it's way out. I had a Gigabyte 8INXP and was very dissapointed. I just picked up a Gigabyte SQ800 which uses the new SIS655 and it is totally stable and very fast. This is a tough question - P4G8X will probably give you slightly...

Confused about 8INXP and it's NIC setup under XP pro

1394 is firewire - do you have an Audigy or something because the 8INXP shouldn't have a 1394 port by itself.... -D

What's the best MoBo that has the SiS 655 Chipset??

I have the Gigabyte SQ800 and I think it's great - traded in my 8INXP and couldn't be happier - especially since it was $150 cheaper and doesn't cause problems w/ my 9700 Pro the way E7205 did... -D

Need Help Upgrading my PC for VHS editing

Looking for new mobo, looking for recommendations

2100+ seems to be the sweet spot in the "bang 4 buck" catergory under AMD right now. As for RAM, I'd suggest dual 256 of PC3200 - any berand would probably do you fine but, I suggest Corsair XMS because of it's low CAS2 latency and excellent reliability. -D

LCD Monitors and Games

I switched from CRT to LCD last year - Viewsonic VX900 and haven't looked back since! I have noticed some light ghosting while playing games but, the trade off in deskspace, heat generation and mobility is well worth it in my opinion. Games like UT2003, Max Payne and Soldier of Fortune play...

Best P4 motherboard

I found anything with the SIS648 to be a great bang for the buck - you could get a a Gigabyte GA-8SG667 from www.mwave.com for about $82 brand new. -D
