Very nice cheap($65.99) aluminum case.

anodyzed aluminum is still aluminum... it's a good thing: instead of painting it some color (like white or aluminum), they anodyze it... all aluminum cases you see for sale are either painted or anonyzed... otherwize they will oxydize and look like crap after a few months.

Toshiba SD-1700 DVD Player $99.99 at JC Penney B&M

I would consider Oritron at Target for $60 or Apex at Walmart for $80 to be a better deal. Also, JVC makes progressive scan players that play VCDs, Super VCDs and MP3's and start at $170.... and are $280 for 7-disc changer model.

I had this player until I sold it, and it pretty much SUCKS! It won't play CD-R's at all (not any kind), it won't play any kind of the Video CD's (even the store bought ones), and it's probably the only DVD player out there right now that doesn't play Video CDs... Even cheap ass Apex units play...

90min CD-Rs

Nope.... actually I just downloaded a few movies (DivX), and they just don't fit on 80min CD-R... (they are around 750 Mb)... and overburn doesn't cut it.... Do PS2 games actually fit on these? And will PS2 read these?

actually, if your dvd player has dolby-digital decoder, than it has pre-outs for all 5 channels and the subwoofer... but since logitech doesn't have a separate subwoofer input.... it will try to extract low-frequencies from the main speaker and put them through the sub.... but the real subwoofer...

Well... not to crap or anything.... but what is the point of hooking up the amplified speakers to the receiver at all? There is a 99% chance that your receiver is a better amp than the amp built-in into the speakers (unless your amp is KLH or something of that nature). By using line-level...
