The end result of wiper is the same as a system that's been trimming automatically since the filesystem was created. Any unused space is marked as available. After that yeah, it's up to the controller to make use of the information. Given that a single run of wiper for me instantly restores...

1370 for the indilinx doesn't support the actual TRIM command as far as I know. They implemented a custom vendor-specific command to use the wiper tool (that behaves identically). Rumors are the next one actually supports the real TRIM command.

squirrel, For what it's worth, I loaded this image up in photoshop on one of my calibrated Lacie CRT's and the HP is much, much closer to what it actually looks like. The Dell looks like a digital vibrance control cranked all the way up or something, it's totally wrong.

Seems like everyone is out of stock at the moment, except maybe newegg, which isn't really recommended for buying LCD's since their return policy is really strict. I got mine from buy.com and sent it back for a replacement, of course now they're out of stock. The four big things for me...

Just got my DS-263N. Ordered from buy.com and it shipped from Carol Stream, IL. It does have the polarizer. Unfortunately it also has three bad pixels. One is just a dead subpixel, which I care not at all, but the other two are side-by-side, about 4" off the bottom and 3" from the left. It's...

There's a special version of MPC called MPC Home Cinema that actually enables the pixel shaders (normal MPC does not). It also has a custom h264 decoder that supports hardware acceleration on the 8800 & I think 38xx cards. Don't know if you can do both at once. I've been thinking about...

Thanks, but from what I can see it still doesn't support contrast, white point, or sharpness settings... so I guess the cinema displays are pretty useless on the PC. I guess I'm gonna nurse my 2000FP along until people have more experience with the Doublesight 263, or until my tax rebate...

My 2000FP is starting to go... it's treated me damn well over the years but the backlights are kicking it, everyone is out of stock of replacements and HD content is becoming more prevalent. The long and short is there's *absolutely* no way I'd use anything besides IPS after 6 years of falling...

Memory,how fast is fast

I guess I missed the boat with the first AMD64 overclocking articles. The memory can be set to a ratio of the HTT, correct? So if we are doing 290 HTT (as so many of us will be, I imagine), there would be some way to use my existing PC3500 (I believe it does 217 at stock voltage at pretty sharp...
