Did you uncheck the File and printer sharing on one of your network cards? Also, make sure DNS is setup properly.

Make your own telezapper equivalent to stop telemarketers

Perhaps others can offer their own experiences with this, but my understanding is that making a telemarketing call to a cellular phone is illegal (since you pay for minutes, as opposed to a POTS line where incoming calls are essentially free).

Sorry, but this is still an OEM license. That means it is legitimate only if you buy it with (IIRC) a hard drive, CPU, or motherboard, and then only if you use that license with that particular piece of hardware. What you want is a retail license.

Pacbell DSL Deal for Bay Area, CA

I've had PacBell DSL since 1998. I never have problems, but then again I was one of the first customers in my neighborhood of San Francisco so I ended up with a static IP and a bridged connection (for $40 a month). At the time I signed up for a year contract expecting prices to go even lower...

I'm looking for some good deals on a DLT (20 - 40 GB) drive and tapes. I'll probably get the drive off of eBay, but if I can find a retailer with good prices (refurbs okay) I'd go for that over eBay. Tapes are the other important thing, I need DLT IV tapes, and I don't mind buying in bulk...

Regarding the comments on the media vultures... I'm wondering how "the media" will do at the end of the quarter. Granted, their viewership may go up after the 911 Attacks and during the military action against the Taliban/bin Laden. But remember, TV stations make money by selling advertising...
