Aaargh! Eheim 1048 pump vibrates LOUD

In the mean time I have glued the impeller to the shaft. It still vibrates, but that could also be caused by too much backpressure. I am switching to 1/2" tubing this weekend, let's see what that does... Grimner, I think you are right, I bet vibrations get transmitted through the water and...

Athlon XP 2200+. How hot is too hot?

I am using the Thermalright AX-7 with a Zalman 80mm fan at 7V on my 2200+. Pretty quiet. The socket thermistor on my Gigabyte 7VRXP mobo gives me 52C idle, 60C load.

I'm tired of video card fans. I want a silent video card cooling setup.

Not sure this can be called good advice, but let's just say this is what I did. I hated that darn whiny fan as well, so I used a Zalman fanmate to lower the voltage from 12V to about 8 or 9V, just about the level that the fan stopped being obnoxious. Worked on my GF2, works on my GF4. I do not...

Looking for SILENT pump

Warcon: thx for the links...I actually am strongly considering a DC pump, also because I do NOT want to leave my pump running all the time, and hooking it up to my (400W) PSU is much easier than the relay thingy. I was also looking at a small pump by Jabsco. Bit expensive though. 4dm: I think...

Looking for SILENT pump

Without water it makes a TON of noise, like the impeller is just flappin' around in there. I can easily move the impeller from its axis, kinda like that centrifuge effect when it has too much load on one side.

Okay. So what is the likelyhood that the Eheim simply has to work too hard? I'd be willing to try a different selection of components. I have a BIX "laying around", so I could go to a 1/2"ID system with e.g. the MAZE blocks. I suppose that would be beneficial to the flow, but would it help...

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I have been able to eliminate most of the direct vibration resulting from the pump touching the case. I bought a good size sponge, and cut out the shape of the pump, and half embedded the pump in the sponge. That seemed to reduced the hum significantly. But...

So I thought I would quiet down my system by going to watercooling (using the Innovatek kit). But the vibration of the Ehaim 1048 pump makes my whole case resonate, and produces a far louder and annoying hum than I had with aircooling. I tried rubber washers, I tried mounting the pump on a bed...

Abit GF4 Ti4200: video signal interference?

Uh..no..sorry. I uninstalled the nVidia drivers, then uninstalled the GF2 from the Device Manager, shutdown, unplug, swapped cards, rebooted, installed nVidia drivers. :-)

Abit GF4 Ti4200: video signal interference?

I just swapped out my GF2 GTS for an Abit GeForce4 Ti4200, and noticed a strange "flickering" of the screen that gets worse when there is HD activity or when moving the mouse. Changing refresh rates did not make a difference. Flickering is not entirely the correct word, as the screen does not go...

Good suggestions. Colorcases has the most extensive collection of original looking cases I have come across. There's a few in there that come close. So does the Addtronics, really nice case (although a tad too high for the spot wher I need it). But the reason why I want 2 exhaust fans is...
