What's the possibility of a socket 1155 CPU faster than an i7-2600k?

4 core faster at stock? I'd bet on it. 6 core? I think so. 6 core unlocked? reserved for LGA2011 methinks.

Are P67 & H67 enough to put you off the unlocked i5-2500K SB?

I'm basically in the same boat (need fast processor, minimal graphics and would prefer low power/cost), but I don't hold a grudge, as I do not feel Intel is doing this intentionally to screw anyone. I believe with all the delays to BD, intel was just pushing SB along to compete and let the...

    ITX, P67 and overclock

That is what LNO is maintaining... gotta hand it to them, trying to make a go of selling overclocked systems for SB. gotta be a relatively small market that wants a very fast computer but is averse to DIY OC on air. Intel has made it almost too easy on SB.

Performance imporvement of Ivy Bridge vs Sandy Bridge (speculation)

likely. although I would not be surprised to see a locked 6 core at lower clock to compete with AMD... probably depends on how successful BD is.

Performance imporvement of Ivy Bridge vs Sandy Bridge (speculation)

as long as we're speculating... I'm betting IB will mirror westmere by not offering a cheap upgrade path to enthusiasts... more cores to locked processors on LGA1155 with better graphics, 8 cores unlocked on i7 extreme for LGA2011. Those buying 2600k hoping to upgrade to a 6 or 8 core...

Frys: Not responsible for typographical errors

please tell me Palo Alto does not have the same price match procedure as Sunnyvale. Kind of sad you have to wait in line to buy at Fry's price and bring it to the return line and wait there to get refunded the diff. Oh, and if you paid cash... back to the other line to redeem the voucher since...

Frys: Not responsible for typographical errors

come on... really, who do you trust more, Fry's, or some random noob on an online forum??? http://shopping.dallasnews.com/ROP/ads.aspx?advid=2519&adid=10405067&subid=32618820&type=

Frys: Not responsible for typographical errors

Given my experience with Fry's, I would not count on that. In all likelihood, this is an ad for an AMD processor :) and yes, DFW.

Overclocking H67. What do you think?

Have you tried it with a discrete GPU such that the IGP is inactive?

Overclocking H67. What do you think?

No... at last correspondence, they had not yet OC'd on H67, they stated OC on ES was not possible, but had been assured by their vendor that on the production boards it would be, and stated they had observed a demo of such. Nevertheless, given everything else and no proven H67 OC two days after...

Overclocking H67. What do you think?

pcpro responded and updated review: "You chaps are right - the 2D benchmarks (including overclocked benchmarks) were indeed carried out on a P67 system, while the graphical ones used the H67 board as described. Thanks for catching that: I've corrected the text of the review." Looking more...

Quick Sync is not available for P67 motherboards

The developers of x264 may disagree with you... we need an objective comparison of QS vs overclocked x264 at equivalent output quality. I do not consider 640x480 transcoding high quality, and the times associated with this are not troubling (heck, even x264 can reach 400fps at sufficient...

Overclocking H67. What do you think?

makes sense with pcpro saying they adjusted the turbo.

Overclocking H67. What do you think?

Their system is spec'd with a Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H board and expected OC to 4.7GHz. They've verified with their vendor (Gigabyte?) that the board does indeed support CPU OC, purportedly received a demo (at CES), and received a few samples to take back home. They seem like a pretty small outfit...
