Well I've had nothing but trouble with my macbook, And upon taking it apart it's obviously super flimsy, And I think OSX is just bad-- and SLOW. I'm going back to windows and Ubuntu and I want to get a killer machine.

I'm thinking Thinkpad T61 or Dell Vostro 1500. Other ideas? I'm into considering tablets but haven't found anything good for less than my budget of $1000. Just tell me a model and what you like about it. Cheers

My macbook screen wants to be dim...

It's a brand new screen and it's worked great for a few weeks, but since this morning, it comes on full brightness for a second when I power-on the machine, then goes dim (like when it's trying to save power) and stays dim. Doesn't matter whether I boot up into Mac or Windows. Help! RRRRG...

macbook Core Duo dies when it gets to 53C?

Last night my macbook Core Duo froze and then I tried unsuccessfully to boot it for about half an hour -- there were *random* problems -- repeated chime sound, repeated optical drive ejecting, freezing during boot or giving me the "your computer needs to restart" message in 4 languages, or...

itunes alternative

Since I picked up an additional 100GB of music yesterday (170GB), itunes crashes every time I try to "add folder to library". And foobar for some reason doesn't add about 1/5th of the songs to the library. Songbird's cluttered slow interface dark interface annoys me.

They have portable CD players that play data CDs full of MP3s. Do they have the same thing that can play an entire DVD full of MP3s though?

Installing Mac OS X Tiger without a DVD drive

So I have an iMac with 10.2.9 and I want Tiger on it since a lot of mac apps need tiger, or at least panther. I have Tiger install DVDs. The iMac has ONLY CDROM and CANNOT boot off an external DVD drive through USB. So what are my options? Is there a way to convert the DVD to some...

Windows sucks

LCD got a little crack: How do I prevent it from spreading?
