No Sound with Flash

Flash 9 sound stuff is fairly broken. ya that will work for some things. I wanted to switch from using Alsa directly to using PulseAudio for various reasons. Flash9 won't work with that for nothing. There is nothing you can really do to fix it.. The best I've been able to get it working...

Recomend a distro for sound recording/editing

You want 64Studio! It's very multimedia oriented. If you ever used Ubuntu before you'll find this is similar since it uses Debian and Ubuntu is Debian-based. One of the nice things about it is that has commercial support options, but is still free software. The big difference between this...

grep - why does this crash?

It segfaulted because of a bug with it. Something with it is wrong. I run commands like that all the time and it works just fine with grep. It should not ever segfault, at worst it will choke and error out, more or less gracefully. .-------------------------- You can go individually file...

Super Low Power Linux for Laptop Media Playing?

On long trips I'll just use my EEE PC plus a power inverter and that's that. I have a 80gig USB harddrive that I'll plug into it. I'll use a power inverter because I'll charge my cell phone and use it for other things. But if it was just my laptop I'd just get a proper adapter. Otherwise...

How best to backup/image Linux lvm-dmcrypt encrypted hard disk drive?

I wouldn't bother trying to backup the file system. what I'd rather do is use rsync or tar (or whatever other type of archiving tool you prefer) and do it on the file and directory level. If you'd like you can do this on a live system, just as long as you watch out for online databases.. but...

backups: automatic backups for certain modified files
