Yea I knew it wasn't terribly bad, but I was hearing people getting 40 degrees or less from their cards. Even in the Hard OCP review (http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/09/30/amds_ati_radeon_hd_5850_video_card_review/7) he averaged 40 or less on idle. I don't mind the mid 50's I was just a bit...
My card seems to idle a bit hot (nothing near dangerous but a bit warm in my opinion) My 5850 idles around the mid to upper 50's Celsius while the rest of my system (the motherboard and cpu) stick to the lower 30's. I don't think it's caused by bad airflow in the case, but hell it could be.
So...
Trying to convince Computer Bottleneck that Quads are BETTER is like trying to convince a penguin to fly, it's just not going to happen. Qaud core processors do not require a server mainboard nor do they use a very high TDP (well other than the high end phenom II's) They will excel in...
Ya no problem, AMD has pretty much migrated all there newer processors to quad core and seeing as we want a fair comparison we can't compare a dual core AMD to a Dual core Intel w. hyperthreading as the Intel will be able to process two additional threads. We also do not have an reliable...
Like I said you obviously have a biased on dual core processors. If you want the i3 go for it, it's your choice. I'll stick to my i5. You don't need to "defend" your decision if you want the i3 when it comes out then buy it. It'll obviously excel in certain areas; will it be so much "faster"...
Ya really at that price range either option is perfectly fine. I decided to go the i5 route because well at the time it was new, and seeing as it was the first gaming PC that I actually built from scratch I figured I'd go all out and grab the newest stuff. So far I'm quite happy with the i5 ...

Really whats the point in arguing anymore?? There are now 2 pages of every one agreeing that quad or more cores is the present and the future. Most applications currently available are able to utilize the quad cores and you will see an improvement with a quad over a dual to say...
Ya I saw this on guru3d sadly I can't test it (i'm running win 7 here) but these drivers are supposed to drastically speed up NFS shift, I can't wait for that. Hopefully we'll get some 9.12 beta drivers for win 7 soon.
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm fairly certain I'm going to grab the Scythe Kaze Q. It controls up to four fans, it's simple and seems to be reliable. I don't really need much more from a fan controller than that.
The problem is I have some decent but Loud fans throughout my case, when they are running full blast all the time it becomes a bit irritating (I don't want to hear the fans over my music at 3am). Therefore I am currently using a few 7v and one 5v fan connectors to reduce the speeds but the...
Ya I was going to ask you about that Aerocool you linked it. It seems it does not give manual fan control but rather automatic control, the people leaving the comments must not have read the specs where it states it does not give manual fan control.
Thanks for the help so far guys. Oh and...
