Free, lightweight firewall...

Windows Firewall seems to be doing the trick, didn't realize it could be rigged up to block everything but a whitelist. Thanks guys, your concerns with my privacy and whether or not it should be protected via a firewall have been noted. :)

Better safe than sorry, right? Unless Windows is going to burn out my PC when using it's firewall for an arguable purpose. :D

Your opinion would be incorrect. I want my presence on the internet to be unknown except to the few applications I run on a daily basis. Isn't that the whole point of a firewall?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I don't really need anything fancy, just something that sits in the background and blocks everything from the internet except applications added to a whitelist. Preferably something that doesn't eat a ton of resources. I may have just described a firewall...

Are these temperatures okay?

I downloaded MSI Afterburner to do this very thing. I noticed in Furmark the fan was never going above like 56% speed. I figure I could up that to like 75% after it hits 75C and probably never even hit 80. I couldn't figure out how to use it though. :(

Hey thanks, I'm aware of the 97C max temperature... but I'm not sure how close I can get to that before it should be a concern. Was more curious if 80C was normal for GPU's (particularly the Geforce GTX 670) and if there's anything I can do to take it down a bit more under load. :)

I'd have to look again (since I place almost no value in it), but that SeaSonic X650 may have had a small rebate with it. Either way, my brother's weaker PC is rock solid with a 600W Corsair PSU. It just made sense to me to go a step higher rather than a step lower, especially if I ever want...

I'm holding off on further purchases until I figure out what Newegg is up to lol. They called me while I was out driving and I didn't notice til I got home. No voicemails or anything though. If it were urgent, you think they would leave some kind of message. All of my orders have been paid...

The CPU was sold out when I posted last... guess they got some more. How convenient. :) Is that Extreme4 good? Will it work with all my other stuff? Is it overkill for my machine (if a good mobo can be overkill)?

Yeah, that's more or less it. Though I'll need to get the mobo and CPU separately since the Core i5 3570K is all sold out on Newegg. Despite me ordering it when it said in-stock. Now that I'm just down to those two and I know what I want though, maybe I'll pace myself and hunt out a deal. ^_^...

My First Build

So simple! ;) Thanks for the kudos. Never had money until I got this job so spending so much at once is very uncharacteristic for me, and kind of stressful! It'll be worth it though. Lots of fun and learning to be had. I'll definitely do the SSD, one around 60gigs sounds perfect for me.
