Why to use a surge protector....

a $15 anything beats nothing im sure. However with electronics the general rule is you get what you pay for. Personally I wouldn't trust my machine to such an inexpensive surge protector. Ask anyone on the forums if you should get a cheap power supply. . . you get the idea ;)

awesome, you won't be dissapointed. btw your rig is almost exactly like the one i just built. A64 x2 3800+ WD 7200 250G sata Asus X1900XT Asus M2N-e Nforce 570 Corsair 2x1GB XMS DDR 800 Lian Li pc-7b II Seasonic 430W BenQ 20.1" LCD lol had to rma the ram though cuz one...

Why to use a surge protector....

I believe all the APC ES series are for home computers so no it isn't overkill. The higer Volt output just means that your battery will last longer in a powerout. And I couldn't agree more that the price is right, seeing how you will use it until the end of time ;)

Do you think consoles will take over PC'?

I for one am nervous that pc gaming is recieving less and less attention from developers. I don't program games, or anything for that matter, but I can guess it is much easier to design a game for a singel platform then to make one that needs to adapt to many possible hardware configurations...

Why to use a surge protector....

I use an APC ES650 ups to protect my machine. It's resonably priced and includes a battery for backup. It's a very good investment and something any knowledgable computer pwner should have. ;)

Please look at my UPS

I didn't really buy this thing for the battery, but for the protection from spikes, surges, etc. Only my computer is plugged into the battery side of the ups. TV is plugged into surge protecter side. The battery is just a perk. I'll at the very least have 5mins to shutdown if I need to...

Please look at my UPS

Okay, so I am finishing a new computer build with an am2 x2 3800 and a x1900xt running off a seasonic 430W psu. I currently have an APC ES 650 ups that says it's rated for a 390W power output. Is this going to be a problem? I know my computer probably won't be drawing that much...

Take a look at this AM2 Build

looks good to me. I agree with going for the non SLI board unless that is your plan. If you don't do SLI get a smaller PSU. The case looks good to me. Has two 12cm fans just like the comparably priced Lian Li. Oh yeah, I'd probly go with a 512MB vid card but that's just me.
