Pathetic New Rig ?

I'm also gonna agree about the flaky drivers.. When I bought this system I tweaked it to get 7900 3dmarks in 2001 SE.. Now I get just under 5K LoL...

check to make sure your IDE connectors are in properly. also make sure jumpers are still correctly set.

New System...random lockups...frustrated

some pci slots dont like NIC's.. i think usually 1 and 3 are shared, 2 is not and 4 & 5 are shared.. try it in another slot. be sure to remove it in device manager.

what's going on here? (problems w/IDE controler on desktop)

Hmm... Make sure you have your latest chipset drivers for your IDE interface (i.e. via 4n1's, intel storage driver). Also, make sure you have enabled both IDE channels in your device manager. When I was fixing a friends computer, he had troubles installing and running XP, gave me an invalid...

wont even turn on at all?? no fan nothing?? what did you put your motherboard on when you cleaned it?? also, did you make sure to dissipate all static from your body by touching the chassis of your case often when removing/replacing the motherboard?? Did you knock your heatsink any?? could be...

best possible hsf for o/cing??

thinking about o/cing my 1700 instead of buying a new 2400... hoping to get from 1.47 to 1.8 or 1.9... at about 65 degrees celcius.. runs at 60 tops with full load for hours... stock taisol hsf... anyone know of what I should get??? am I going in the right direction? =D thnx

Best possible HSF combo for overclocking ?

Instead of shelling the money out for a radeon 9700 AND a new processor, I was thinking about taking my amd xp 1700 system to new heights with a new video card, and a possible CPU overclock from 1.47 GHz to 1.8 or 1.9, as I hear these processors are good overclockers.. I'm wondering if this can...

take out the battery, and put it back in.... its a long shot but what the hell.. also, when you booted up your first motherboard properly, did you set your CPU FSB speeds up ? it could be that you need to reset your bios again due to the safeguarding of the clock frequencies if you didnt set it...

What are the odds I fried my processor?

hmm. try disconnecting all of your devices in your system except for your video card, ram, cpu, monitor and keyboard.. if to no avail, try resetting the CMOS by taking out your battery.. if this still doesnt fix your problem, then try replacing the power supply... wouldnt mind some more info on...

Kt3Ultra2 & Barton?

Hmm I have the KT3 Ultra.. MS-6380E.. on the box it says KT333 chipset based, however there isnt support for barton yet. I chose to get the ultra because of its RAID features, and the fact that I would pay more to get more longevity out of it.. the ultra-2 has less features, costs less but now...

Quantum Fireball LM30 Will Not come up in UDMA mode?

Is the VIA utility giving you the information? If so, I know that program to be a little flaky sometimes... If your harddrive is in PIO mode you would see serious performance problems.. Try running a benchmark on your drive.. Also make sure your BIOS recognizes it as a UDMA (1,2,3,4,5,6,).. Good...

if you read the readme it clearly says that you would benefit more from a video card upgrade then you would from a CPU upgrade, says the game is more heavily weighted against the video card..

well even for unreal 2, the minimum is a p III 733.. so im sure a 1.5 GHz processor will run it just fine.. I think unreal 2 is more GFX card dependant
