You are lucky you got a tech that knew what was needed. As much as SamirD thinks it's so simple, it's not. Especially when you add in cable modem, cable STB, On demand, and dvr to other stb's, all on coax. Not to mention that most people need an stb, router, and modem from one coax outlet...

I don't have one yet to test different settings. I was originally going to get a Gigabyte z170 mini itx until I read about the horrible throttling it does without even being overclocked. Then I thought I would look into Asus and read this review here at silentpcreview...

I'm seeing 18+ seconds on Asus boards. Why? We have some HP servers take less time. I'm to Windows loading screen in ~3 seconds on a Gigabyte Ivy Bridge motherboard.

mvbighead- I would go that route, but I've never looked into compatibility. In the "old" days you would miss features needed by the server OS using a desktop cpu and motherboard. Even with SuperMicro they have a compatibility list...
