A64's have a more refined pipeline and a more efficient process of calculation. It's main performance boost comes from having the memory controller on-die rather than as a seperate chip on the motherboard. This reduces memory latency by extremely large amounts meaning that the CPU is very...
In terms of gaming performance there is a HUGE difference between an XP3200 and a A64 3200. Also you mention that you are interested in going dual core / 64 bit in a year or so's time. In my opinion the best way forward would be to get an A64 3000 (socket 939) and 1GB of budget DDR400 (2x512MB...
At an atempt to stop this thread dying from troll abuse heres my opinions from an outsiders perspective.
America has always been a shining example of the free world. A constitution garunteeing the rights of the individual if something even most "liberal" countries do not have. It's a shame...
If you arn't intending to use RAID you can always Disable SATA/PATA RAID (and also the individual RAID for each SATA channel). When you do this the motherboard treats each SATA channel as another IDE channel, detecting them automatically at boot-up. Windows can see and use these as it would a...
A lower vCore isn't going to help overclocking, exactly the opposite in fact.
However a lower vCore DOES lower temperatures. I have been able to undervolt both my A64 2800 (754) and my A64 3000 (939) by 0.1v and in each case it cut several degrees off my idle and load temps.
Trumphent: There arn't any drivers on the manufacturers website yet.
Phoenixmatt: I have this motherboard too. Go to nvidia's website and download the latest Forceware chipset drivers

theres the link to the latest XP drivers. this...
I recently upgraded my RAM from some generic CL3 dual channel to some CL2 Geil dual channel. At CL3 I was getting roughly 4700, at CL 2.5 I got 5000 ish and at CL2 I got 5500. By tightening my other timing settings for the RAM I managed to get 5870 in the end. This is all at DDR400 dual channel...
At 230 your HT will be running 5x230 = 1150 which is way above the 1000 stock for the HyperTransport. Lower your HT multiplier to 4x or 3x and try going higher.
