DamnSmallLinux,puppy, and Feather are good places to start with linux. They are small enough to download with dial-up,small enough to be less confusing,they boot from cd,usb or hard drive, and they have very active developement and great community spirit.
The monitor can handle any resolution at which it was tested. But, that should make no difference on the booting/bios stuff which it does or does not show except on certain computers. As before, results vary according to what system it is on....but mostly nothing as primary and faultless as...
I have tried this monitor on 6 different computers with single monitor video cards. I have had varied results. On my Easy Now the boot stuff shows and then it goes blank. On an old Gateway there is no boot stuff, but if you turn the monitor off and on after Windows 98 has booted you can see...
I have a monitor that will not work as a primary monitor........black/dead/nothing. But, as a secondary monitor it doesn't miss a beat. Why will this monitor work fine as a secondary monitor in a dual monitor setup and NOT work as a primary monitor?
My Optowrite203 has been burning flawlessly. But, the new batch of Memorex+R isn't Ricoh it was CMC Magnetics which wasn't recognized(insert media) by the drive. With great trepidation I flashed to the new 2.30 firmware and the CMC media was recognized and burned successfully.
My drive is stealthed and I have NO problems ejecting. I had one coaster when I first got it because I let Nero burn at max and it didn't work. I have burned over 100 movies with the Amazon\Memorex discs at 4X and it works great.
DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5 and Nero 5.5 have been flawless.
I didn't try all the possibilities, but divx worked good for me. If you want stand-alone playback, DVD burners are nice and easy to use. The Hot Deals forum has a thread on this capture card that is really long and has a lot if good info.
