The newer 48x Cendyne's are not Liteon, but lots of older stock on store shelves are Liteon. Only Liteon models that end in 6s are flashable to 52x. They have the newest "6" series Mediatek chipset.
The max burning speed is set by the burner's firmware. It is a good idea to upgrade to the newest firmware so you have the latest information on the max safe burning speeds for different media. You can run Nero Tools scandisk or media quality test to check for errors on disks burned faster than...

Xeon's are not multiplier locked, the multiplier can be lowered (not raised) from standard. You can run a 2.4 and 2.0 Prestonia together at 20x IF the serverworks bios supports it. I believe the bios on most P4 Xeon motherboards have a way to adjust the multiplier.
The new shipment of these drives appear to be Optorites. If you can find an older one it will be a Liteon. A local store stated they got a FedEx shipment of drives (Optorites) yesterday afternoon.
I reflashed mine to 52x liteon, firmware 6S07. It extracted a 677 meg CD inage to hard drive in 2:09 and burned that image to CD at 52x in 2:20. I checked the burned CD for errors uring Nero tools and it was perfect. BTW I used the Optimum 48x CDR's from Staples.

I've done this with 3 different managers recently. I believe the managers are highly motivated to get rid of final clearance items before Christmas. I don't think that selling "F" items below cost counts against the store's profit margin.
Staples has the Verbatim 40x CDRW on final "F" clearance for $45.50. Many managers will give an additional 50% discount on "F" clearance items. There is a new $30 rebate available, enter the UPC 821582000031 in the Staples website rebate search page. $49.50 - 50% = 24.75 - $30 rebate = $5.25...
