Installed new Abit NF7, now my optical mouse LED won't turn off

I know that it drives me bananas when I turn something off and there is still a light shining somewhere. Sure LEDs don't burn out, but when I turn something off, I want it OFF. It's the principle of the thing.

I generally buy my cpus off from pricewatch. You can choose what the best pricepoint is for you there. Then you could try ebay, but most of that stuff doesn't come with a warranty. Check the reseller rating before you buy at resellerratings.com Pricewatch is your best guide. I would like to...

Thoughts on the DFI LAN Party PRO875

I was in the market for a 875p motherboard, and the DFI is competitively priced. Since all the 875p motherboards are going to perform pretty much in the same range, there is no reason to not go with one that is attractive. I originally wasn't planning a window case, but I saw how this boad...

Does Newegg check the refurb MB to see if they are in working order??

They deal in way too much quantity to spend time testing motherboards. Plus they would say that it's not their job too, and that it is already manufacturer tested. Some other places will do it for a fee though, but generally they are not rigorous tests like a 24 hour burn-in.

suggestions on front panel?

I have looked long and hard at the options out there for doing this. I sort of find it backwards to have everything in the back where it is hard to reach and see if you need to change anything, which means you have to pull out your pc from wherever its hiding every time you want to plug...

That's not all, everything glows under UV I wasn't going to do any case lights/windows, but this has me changing my mind. I think I'm in line for this board. I hope Newegg doesn't jack up the price on it.

What are the surface mount devices right next to the memory slots? I broke one and I have pictures. (8KHA+)

Try digikey.com for a similar part (I think they have a minimum order though). It's always hard to buy onesy twosey in the electronics world. Another thought of finding out what type of network it is is to remove it and then put an ohm meter on the pins to determine how it's arrayed.

newegg has the DFI PRO875 lan party board as coming out 4/25 for $199. It glows under UV. That looks like a strong sellingpoint right there. :P Sure is purty.

yeah, that's right, 22 ohms. Once these things are cracked, forget trying to fix it by soldering the part though.

I have worked with smt parts in a manufacturing enviroment. What you damaged is a resistor network. It looks like this one is 22 ohms and is used as a pull-up for one of the data/address lines. Because the board fails memory test and won't post, it's safe to say you cracked the part all the way...

MIDI Interface Problems

Sorry to rain on your parade, but all onboard sound solutions use essentially the same two or three chips, like the realtek al650 (very popular), or the cmedia cmi 8338 (maybe a variant like the 9739, they make a lot of chips). The main overriding purpose of the "gameports" that you will find...
