Build Help Requested: ESXI White Box

I just recently bought a Dell Optiplex 755 off Dell Financial for $210ish shipped to my door. It came with Intel E8400 and 2x2GB + 2x 1GB RAM, DVD-RW and for whatever reason 2x160GB HDDs. It came with some kind of ATI video card but that came out immediately; I have no idea if it even works...

Cheap duplex printer that wont force you to buy new color cartridges to print?

Do you need to color? Color will significantly increase your cost if you are looking at laser printers. I picked up a B&W AIO laser with built in duplexer for around $130 a while back. It's refurbed and the toner is around $50 for 3rd party, but original toner is likely to last me many many...

Scorpio Black vs Scorpio Blue

I have a Scorpio Black 250 in my Dell E4300 and it seems to work well. The battery life is still about 5 hours and to be honest, that plenty! Well for me at least. I have a Scorpio Blue in an external enclosure connected by eSATA to my E4300 and the difference in speed is noticeable.

Hard drive swap/clone question

For Win7 that might work though I have not tried. I think I ran into some problems with XP trying to do that at work after cloning an 80 to 250GB. In that scenario it was necessary to do the -k or -k1 option. I didn't dig too much into that matter. At work, as long as it works is good...

Spindle Drives and RAID 0 - worth it?

I'm fairly certain that I was able to install two WD Greens in RAID0 on my computer with an existing Win7 install. I don't remember what I did though, I think I just added the array. I have Intel chipset RAID FWIW though.

Need advice on what to look for in a laptop

Heavy business use laptop suggestions

There is also Dell Latitude E6510 which should be comparable to the T510. For even more power, there is Dell Precision laptops which are desktop replacements.

Yeah, but for the OP who is limited to about $700, the E4310 w/SSD will be a no go. E4310 w/ a 7200 RPM drive would definitely work though.

You're right. I forgot that the i cores have IGP on board. The GM45 has a TDP of 12W so compared to the i5, my SP9400 in my E4300 has about the same power consumption as the E4310. Personally, I think I'd go with a E4310 if I were buying another laptop now. A 7200 RPM HDD is fine for most...

I saw some E4310 with i5 with 7200 RPM HDD and 6 cell battery at about the same price as that E6410 you are describing. I don't know what the battery life is like though -- I"m guessing somewhere around 4 to 5 hours. The i5-520m has a TDP of 35W and uses 32nm lithography, and the SP9600 uses...
