The PS5 does not use the parts mentioned here. It is irrelevant to this conversation.

Now stop and think for a second. What you are loudly proclaiming is that Intel ca’t make a dual CCD part, but AMD can. Does that sound right to you?

Discussion Intel Meteor, Arrow, Lunar & Panther Lakes Discussion Threads

While I won't bet on current rumors being right, everything I've seen indicates that Intel is planning (or did plan) a dual chiplet part. They may not even be using a ring bus at all, or they could be using a ring of rings, mesh, or some other topography. At any rate, a dual chiplet design...

    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

I am curious as to why none of the GPU vendors have innovated more in the GPU/bulk storage area. Something like a PCIE 5.0/6.0 m.2 slot to allow textures to be bulk cached or something. (that is, the PCIE slot goes to the GPU and isn’t shared with the host system. Just my wild thinking, don’t...

Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

I saw that, and I find it to be a rather curious choice by AMD. I wonder if there are other differences or if these are just to get rid of defective IO dies.

Core counts will only go up on specific products, and only because it is dead simple for them to add a second chiplet. x86 isn’t going anywhere. When you count hyperthreading, they will be pretty close in terms of performance. Power limits and IPC will be the deciding factor. They won’t. It...

    Question Zen 6 Speculation Thread

Not really, if anything, they are derailing hype trains before they hype. Client will see a small IPC bump and a small bump in clocks. It’ll be entertaining to see all the double talking from folks like MLID, etc. Competition is nipping at their heals, and by that I don’t mean Intel.

Just wait, big things are coming to client as well. While AMD DEFINITELY still has work to do, they are getting it together with Radeon.

    Discussion RDNA4 + CDNA3 Architectures Thread

Wider designs are becoming unaffordable, unfortunately. For GPUs at least… Chiplet plans are shelved for now. I am sure somebody at AMD is still trying to get it working, however, as I understand it, no gaming products planned. That could always change, of course. AMD is actually very good at...

    Discussion RDNA4 + CDNA3 Architectures Thread

I somehow missed this and I had to comment. NVIDIA is doing this because their costs have shot up drastically the past few years. Moving from Samsung to TSMC means they have to pay quite a bit more per wafer. They had some pretty sweet discounts at Samsung. No they could not 'kill' Radeon. They...

Provided they give ample enough warning, if an announcement of forum closure is made, I will roll out a replacement for everyone to go to. I have a domain reserved for it and some other hardware related stuff, I just have to set things up. I'm a busy guy so it is low on my priority list since no...

Laptop makers don't want to make things upgradable because then that stops users from buying new laptops.
