How(for what), do YOU use your home network

My network is pretty "normal" I guess. I have 4 regular computers wired to it, a shuttle PC on there that's a fileserver for the local network, and usually 2-3 laptops that connect via wireless. My network consists of the cable modem, a Linksys WRT54GS router hooked to that, and a WRT54G...

best way to transfer data?

you could either get a cross over cable and connect the 2 computers and transfer that way, or get a SATA->IDE converter and slave the old harddrive and copy the files over

Drive will not boot.....?

correct, I can boot fine off of another harddrive and have the original drive slaved. I can see all the files just fine on the original drive and open them up. I'm running a full system scan as we speak to make sure there are no viruses on the drive.... what are the boot files I should look for?

Drive will not boot.....?

For some reason, one of my computers just will not boot off of it's main harddrive. One day my father was using Photoshop and closed it, and when he did, the machine completely shut down. He rebooted it and it would not boot. I had an old drive just sitting in the case with Windows on it, so...

D-Link vs D-Link

I have the B2 revision of the DI-624 and it doesn't give me any problems with disconnecting or anything... I used to use a Netgear router that would disconnect 2-3 times a day. Also, Amazon has a used one for $59 after rebate.... or J&R has a new one I think for $60 plus shipping.

Can you make mydocuments exist on a seperate drive from the OS?

yeah, right click the My Docs folder and go to properties, then choose a new folder on the D:\ drive named My Documents. All of the computers built and sold through my university has the folder on the D:\ drive for easy backup or in case we need to reformat the C:\ drive.
