Basic CPU Question

Well, after quite a bit more Googling (I wasn't searching for the right word combos at first, apparently) I got my answer. The little square at the center is the die, and apparently it is the most critical part of the CPU. It is usually chipped similar to mine when a heatsink is improperly...

Basic CPU Question

I have a basic question about the AMD Athlon CPU; about all I know is how to install and use it. Anyway, I just got an Athlon 1.2 in the mail from another user on FS/T today, and it has some minor physical damage. The plate in the center of the CPU, where the stepping code is printed and such...

Upgrade to TI4200

In case you need a testimonial, I ran my AOpen GF4 Ti4200 on an ASUS A7V133 until a couple of weeks ago (upgraded to a DDR mobo) and it was fine. You shouldn't have any trouble. :D

Hot -> Samsung 150S 15" LCD Monitor for $195 after Rebate

I just picked one of these up, and I'm not sure what I think of it yet. I had to reinstall GTA:VC to get it to work (wouldn't start up with the new monitor installed). Also, the way text goes all blurry when scrolling a page is a bit disorienting, but I think that's just LCDs in general. One...

HOT! Mafia for PC, $12.48 at Target

I was in Target tonight picking up a cheap desk (gotta have someplace to keep the Thinkpad T23 from another thread :D) and decided to check for clearance games. I found one copy of Mafia with a $24.98 clearance price on it...but it rang up as $3.14!!! :Q

fedex ground, new policy sucks.

Everything large I buy comes single boxed in the manufacturer's box. A/V receiver, Dell printer, monitor...all single-boxed. You'd think those are the sorts of things that'd need the extra protection, if anything would. I suspect retailers aren't going to be made to follow the same rules.

When you confirm your address with PayPal, do they send a letter to your house?

They did send me a letter like that, but it was at least a couple of years ago. I don't know what the policy is now.

FedEx leaves packages at my door with no signature if I'm not home, and I was told I can't change that. That's enough reason for me to go UPS.

So Long Space Cowboy... Cowboy Bebop gone from Adult Swim

*sigh* I had to d/l the last 5 episodes of Trigun in Japanese with subtitles just to see how the series ended. It figures they'd cancel it right when I decide to watch the series for the first time.

I just got mine in the mail today - it's the first good laptop I've owned, and it rocks! :D It definitely needs more RAM, though...I think I might just go for a 512 on top of the existing 256.
