    Where do I place a 120mm Fan

well, it won't fit in any of the pre-built fan mount areas. Since they already cut a blowhole and side vent for you, you can't really mod it by cutting out more fan locations (easily, that is). Instead, pick up some nice fans with medium CFM specs (how much flow the fan has, it's ability to...

68 c freakin idle degrees!! what the..

Couldn't agree more. The refurbished mobo is defintely making me suspicious, both of possible problems with the temp sensor on it and with its voltage reporting and/or settings. If you can, try this HSF and chip in another system to isolate your problem a bit. I think your AS3 and heat sink...

    The best 1U rackmount case?

The only thing that I can think of regarding 1U cases is the PC Power and Cooling Series, one of which is found here. Sorry if that's not what you're looking for, but getting an empty 1U isn't going to be very easy, I bet. Not too popular with the enthusiast for obvious reasons...

    60mm to 80mm adapters

I also remember a thread on this subject a while back. While it's probably is gone now, I remember very clearly that the mod was worth it, i.e. you got a noise reduction with no negative effects on CPU temps. I would recommend such a mod for two reasons: very easy to do (just rotate the fan a...

    Question about Baybus, DigiDoc5, ect...

There was a big thread on this, with the same issue of trying to fit a Rheobus (the one at pcmods.com, here), or a Baybus into a Antec/Chenming/Chieftec case with a door. Their verdict was that that particular product would not fit. The Baybus is a possibility, since there is actually a fair...

    PSU capacity?

BG 4533 has it right, at least 300 watts. But make sure that the PSU is from a reputable company also!! This can make the difference between stability and frequent inexplicable crashes. Companies like Enermax, Antec and PC Power & Cooling all make good PSUs, although they aren't the only ones.

sorry, it won't let me delete this double post... argh

68 c freakin idle degrees!! what the..

Since it is a 2000+, I will assume that dust isn't an issue. It is possible that the AS3 is not working right, so one option is cleaning it all off (as per the instructions that are on Arctic's website) and reapplying to make sure some sort of impurity didn't get in there. Another idea I have...

    New Chenming Case- CompuCase 6919

I think it might be a heavily modified and rebranded Chen-ming, as SWScorch suspects. There are quite a few similarities, and it makes more sense to me that they just modded a real Chen-ming as opposed to pain-sakingly imitated it. Looking forward to your review, Scorch.

    Help finding review

How about this: both of them are top-quality HS's and you won't be disappointed either way. I don't think you will be able to find reviews that really favor one or the other. Stick with the ax-7 if that's easier.

What do you guys think about this aluminum case? *pics*

This is so true. I also personally am a member of the latter group, but out of those two Aluminum cases, I have to say that the Coolermaster looks rather spiffy with its' symetrical design. That said, you cannot deny the allure and simplicity of the Lian-Li as well. I say it's a tie. :D

Athlon XP system: Is a 2nd case fan absolutely necessary?

That's interesting that 6 deg. C can come from just opening the front bezel! Sure says something about the old skool Enlight's ability to move air in the case. You might try getting rounded cables and/or otherwise tidying up the cabling inside the case. That can hlpe get the air moving around...

Best thermal paste? Best low-height HSF?

This is good advice! I hate when they make it near-impossible to replace those things!

Best thermal paste? Best low-height HSF?

After reading this whole thread, I tend to side with those of you (mechBgon, for one) who suspect memory is the culprit. I was just reading Maximum PC, and they mentioned that CPU problems are extremely rare. Considering that cooling is not at fault, the CPU is even less likely to be the prob...
