The Planar uses the same panel as the 26" version of the 2490WUXi. There isn't much difference in picture quality. It isn't a far better monitor, and actually worse for gaming. The NEC models have more frame buffering junk in them, so they have higher input lag compared to the more bare bones...

I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything in your price range that is 8-bit and low latency that isn't either an expensive IPS panel or a PVA panel riddled with input lag.
I've had this problem before, on two separate computers. It turned out to be a problem with certain motherboards and higher voltage memory, namely any that required 2.3V. I put in my lower voltage memory and everything worked fine in both cases.
It is an ok game so far. It definitely has some balance issues and bugs that need to be worked out though. Some of the animations are very crude as well.

Anyone else having trouble patching? I'm guessing it is just the patch server being under heavy load, since it'll burst a megabyte or two then just die from anywhere between 1-30 minutes. Doesn't make it any less annoying though.
I played the demo (which was supposedly from E3 2007, or so I heard), and wasn't particularly impressed. The nectar system doesn't seem to serve any purpose except to restore health and make your enemies easier to see, the other benefits are negligible.
