SSD, Samsung worth the extra money?

You should roll with the Samsung EVO, IMO. Best bang for buck in terms of speed, price, reliability.

How much memory do I really need (gaming/video rendering / photo editing)

I think this question requires context. How much extra does it cost you to get to 16 GB? If $30 (like it was for awhile), go ahead and get the extra 8GB. If $80, then...eh, depends on your budget, but probably leaning not worth it.

Is there no longer a link to the forums on the anandtech home page?

Ahhh, must be that my window is too small. At the top of my screen was "PC Components", and no ribbon. Weird.. Oh well, thanks!

This might be a dumb question, but is there no longer a link to the forums on the anandtech home page? I used to come to the forums by going to anandtech.com, and then clicking forums. I don't seem to be able to find that link anymore. If it's there and I just don't know where it is, sorry...

The V.me thing - does it work with the games bundle? I keep getting a message saying I can't apply the VME10BTS code because the card has a bundle on it already.

Quietest cooler of any on the market, including the gigabyte Windforce. I *LOVE* this cooler. Only problem is it's so heavy it sags after awhile. :(
