Odd request - Installing Windows 10 to MBR not GPT?

Dahak, I had actually typed that out and never posted it last night. Did exactly that (found it on the Lenovo forums) and it worked. Amazing that their own BIOS update would basically kill the system it was installed on. Thanks for the help, guys.

Ugh. Might just have to do the Windows 7 bullshit then. That's... Pretty annoying. No secureboot option whatsoever in the BIOS.

Fardringle, as far as I can see, there's no option for this in the bios. That was my first instinct, but this is the most barebones, bullshit BIOS I've ever seen. Also, small thing: Desktop, not laptop.

Is Avast good replacement for Norton 360? And which firewall?

Avast is fine. Bitdefender free has basically become abandoned, for the most part. Lots of bugs that never gets fixed, though it still gets definition updates. If you want something free, I suggest Avira or Avast. AVG is good, but they publicly state they sell some of your info. It's not...

Handsoff setup recommendations for my father

If you want handsoff? Webroot along with Malwarebytes anti-malware, then toss in an ad blocker like uBlock. Maybe Adblock+, since it tends to need less interaction.

7 years, which is just great. Kind of shocked it got a perfect 10 on Jonnyguru, too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438054 Ended up getting it for $110 with a $10 warranty at Microcenter last night. Newegg was $15 cheaper, but I needed it ASAP.
