SSD on older MAC question

Hi I'm running older G5 PPC Quad system ,,, am now interested in SSD. would like opinions on going with excelsior card if that is even possible, if not then SSD is second choice for boot drive. Any opinions on best models and experiences, success stories, whatever,,, appreciated...

Nvidia 8800 for the mac??

So this all leads me to ask is if it is how is it possible to flash a GPU,that is something I've never done ?? Oh,, silly me,, I'd imagine it's just a driver update,, yes ????

Nah !! not gonna even try that till it's been around and made more stable,,,, but by the time that happens I may be into a PRO anyhow thnx

Hey All I've been looking at the possibility of a MAC lately and trying to piece one together. My question is wether the Nvidia 8800GT is different for the MAC as opposed to the PC? My impression, thus far, is that the MAC version is built without SLI capability as compared to PC...

beyond 4 gigs ram in xp ???

Thank you very much guys it's very reassuring to hear from you that the 64 bit version is ok I had tried the trail way back when vista first came out and was not very enthusiastic about 64 nor 32 bit versions gonna have to consider the move have a good night joe

thank you both for quick reply... Will Vista be the move for me then ??? I own so many PC apps that it pains me to even think of going to MAC for higher ram but what can you do,, things just change and it par for the course... thanks again

Hey kids Hello to all it's been a while,,, hope you are all well. I tried to search and cannot find any info regarding XP and the 4 gig memory limitation so I gotta ask,,,k, has there been any work around or fix to allow XP to address more than 4 gigs of memory come down the pike ...

Hello to all At the risk that this question has been addressed somewhere else,,, Has anyone here done a side by side test of the new Mac Pro against a comparable Intel system. I have to admit that I've been real close to pushing the BUY button more than once but I have concerns.

linux for amd64 ???

I've been looking at the posibility of going Linux on my new amd 64,, I'd like to know if anyone can tell me if there is a distro that will allow me to run Photoshop, Maya, Director, Dreamweaver and apps such as these.. Thnx in advance for replies
