I think I'd get too paranoid about running into someone or someone mucking around with me in the park...as if I saw someone in a public park doing the VR thing. I'd probably mess with them for fun...lol

Well, back in my day, I ran around 10 computers all running DC off of a floppy disk drives. lol Yes, the days of SETI where DC was much stronger I think. I got really offended when seti would beg for donations in email .... I was like, ok I buy all this hardware, set it all up... and pay for...

Need suggestions on PC build within 1400 USD budget.

You might want to consider a mac mini. The M2 chip is pretty impressive, virtually silent and efficient. I know this is a build forum, but....for your needs it fits the bill.

LOL... Yup, but.... There is ton's of $$$ and volunteer time pointed at the backend... Can you imagine what it takes to sell the IDEA of DC to big corporations that will feed this data and split it up so you an I can download and work on it, and reassemble it again to make sense? And do this all...

Yes, you can have too many CPU cores - Ampere's 192-core chips break ARM64 Linux kernel in two-socket systems, company requests higher core count support. Sometimes, it's the order of the drivers. Do lots of reboots after each hardware driver install. I'd download CPU-Z see if that detects what...

still playing L4D 1 and 2. I dunno, the classic games seem to be better than the new crap coming out now. If you really want to roll back, UT GOTY 99 is still one of my Fav games. New maps are still coming out. I guess 1999 was a good year after all. lol
