Pretty much it is the number of twists over length. The higher the number of twists, the less crosstalk, the higher the quality of signal over distance. Cat 5e has more twists over a length then Cat 5 does, so it is rated for longer distance at higher speeds.

Both Seagate 120GB in raid seem under reported

That's probably about right. Couple things to consider: 1) HD specs are done with 1000bytes = 1kb while your machine will read in 1024bytes = 1kb. This will take 3gb right off the top. 2) File allocation tables will probably use up another 5gb or so if you use it as one large partition.

New PNY Verto FX 5200 AGP with dual monitors has no red on second monitor...

$249(no rebates) 2.2ghz Emachine 128mb ram/40gig HD/Cdrom/Windows XP/10/100 lan and 56k modem.

Dead in Minneapolis too....kinda. I called 3 stores and all had it for $249 but only if you bought the packaged monitor with it for $209. Not sure what kind of monitor it was...might be still good if you need a monitor. I did manage to get one yesterday though, when the price was still right.

Mad dog 16x dvd drive help needed.

Just picked up this drive from $20 from CompUSA. I went ahead an installed it but windows 2k is not recognizing it properly. When win2k booted up it installed it as a "Removable Drive" instead of a dvd drive and consequently does not work. I searched the forums and there seems to be a few...

Do you really need to do full backups every night? Most places I have worked for did a full twice a month and then incrementals every other day. Not quite as easy, but you should be able to keep your current tape drive if you did it this way.

No, I got trapped in a hot deal...they have a deal for the duals right now (it had a yellow background, I couldn't help myself) ;) Actually, the single xeon would have been about $250 less I think.

I just don't understand why a place that is trying to commit fraud makes it so blatant. Look at the prices, they are all half of the best price that you could get anywhere else. If I were trying to commit fraud I would set prices just low enough so that they attracted attention, but not low...
