CD-ROM support on boot

I am not familiar with your motherboard or bios., so this may not apply in your case. In my award bios, you not only have to set the ide channel to auto for the hard drive to be recogniized, but elsewhere you have to set the ide secondary ide channel to "active" for either hard drive or cd's...

Am I Screw? Bad Firware Flash, is CDROM Toast?

Research the forums on cdfreaks . I have seen a number of discussions there in the past few months on what to do if a firmware flash went bad. Good luck

Has anyone tried to flash their Maxtor controller with the latest Promise bios to make it be a promise? What was the result? Any problems?

***** Mr.Hawk ***** Mine is a Verbatim. Flashed it to Lite-On 48x12x48, VS06. Using Nero 5.5.9. Certain makes of disks it will burn at 48, others at only 40, and some 12x rated ones I have, only at 32. Believe this is Nero determining what the disks are good for.
