I'm running a GTX 1080 overclocked with an Arctic Cooling Xtreme III strapped on it. You're right, I should probably be happy with what I have now and wait for Zen 2 on 7 nm next year. Or who knows, maybe the 2700X will have a massive discount after Intel releases its 9900K. So much hassle for...

Regarding thermal paste, since at first I've used Coollaboratory Liquid Pro and the temps were still very high, I don't think that Grizzly Kryonaut will make much of a difference, if any, from the provided Thermalright Chill Factor 3, which is quite good. Anyways I've reseated the cooler once...

Made a quick Prime95 test at 1.2 V and it was a no-go. So probably 1.25 V is as stable as it can be. I've also put the ram to 3466 mhz@16-21-21-42 2T from 19-23-23-42 2T . Tested it at 3733 mhz and it booted fine, but crashed in AC Origins. Might be stable at more volts ( 1.45 V ) but I won't go...

I'm at 77 C at 1.25 V. No way I will ever be bellow 65 C, maybe only at stock. I've tried 3.95 ghz at 1.25 v and Prime95 froze instantly. As I've observed, probably 4.0 ghz is stable at 1.4 V and maybe 4.1 ghz is achievable beyond 1.45 V. But there is no chance I can cool it at those voltages...

I'm at 3.9 ghz now with 1.25 V@77 C in Prime95 and it looks like I have a bit of room to drop it even further. I have to be happy with this,no!? :)

To be honest after reading all the reviews and tests, I thought that 4.1-4.2 ghz is a breeze, even under air for 2700. But it does look like I've lost the silicon lottery with this one.

Gtx 470/ ati 5850

At 36-38 C room temperature, no videocard is safe. GTX 470/480 have very high working temperatures: 94-96 C at ambients of 20-24 C. Imagine what will happen at 38 C ambient. Probably the fan will work at 100% speed and would still not be able to keep the card bellow 105 C and I don't know...

The problem with that egg is that the contact between spoon and heatsink is very weak, they probably touch each other in a very small surface area, so even if the heatsink had 100 C+ it would not make the omelet, because there isn't any heat transfer between the two. Now, if he would have packed...
