Would a HP or Gateway desktop (built in the US) be 220v compatible?

Cheaper PSU intended for one market only may support only one tensions... so be careful because it wouldn't be nice to plug a 110v into a 220v outlet. If you don't have a switch on the back that says 110 - 220, carefully check documentation. If you could open up the system and report the model...

I mixed up the eur / usd numbers, it's 1700 before taxes, still... There's a 21% tax on any sale to the final consumer. Gasoline fuel here is $9 per gallon :\ As sleepingforest says the issue is that there is still a big chunk of people who either just don't pay taxes or do their best to...

I'd have to give up ECC memory support, "Workstation Class" monickers, which i don't care about honestly, but my boss (who's buying) does (i am dealing with an Hewlett Packard fanboy here... D: ) I will look into a build like that though.

I wasn't very clear... i mean, most web stores here sells a lot of ECC buffered kits, but not many unbuffered ECC ones. The only one i could find is a CL11 1600mhz Kingston kit (which is ok since it is also on the qualified memory list for the MB)

Thanks mfenn Like you said, the Asus P8C WS supports unbuffered ECC memory up to 1600 mhz (with an ivy-bridge based xeon)... this limits my choice to ONE kit of kingston sticks

One more question crazymonkey... i keep reading on the Asus forum of many issue with the P8B WS and ECC sticks. I am sure this got better with the P8C, but do you run your memory without problems? Is the ECC function working? Did you get the Kingston stick from the qualified memory list...
