budget workstation / some games

this will be my 3rd PC build, every few years I find it's time to get something new. My PC will be mainly used for online poker, which involves having multiple sites open, 12+ tables, a database program and probably running a music player/browser all at the same time. I would like to be...

HOT Dell 2405FPW $759 at Dell Business

Nice! Works on 2001fp, too! brings 2001fp to 409.64 shipped before tax. I picked up one, but opted for the 5 year warranty (call me paranoid :D). came to 470 after tax. Couldn't bring myself to drop the dough for the 2405..... Someday :D

PC gaming build on a budget

I just built a budget gaming PC in the late summer/fall. Trust me when I say buy a bigger hard drive! You will spend MORE in the long run by skimping here. Just look at all the drives you're interested in and buy the one with the cheapest $/gb ratio. the 80gb sounds like a nice value buy...

Using PCI Express

do all PCI-e cards use it's own power connector? I don't think my eVGA 6600gt does.

thanks for the tip but can you explain? I have steam for HL1 and CS, but why would I want to install all of the other games first? (i'll be putting hl2 on my new system sometime nextweek - fresh hard drive)

lol, I did the EXACT same thing. I have everything here except for my CASE! (coming thursday ahhhh) and I wanted to see what the modstream looked like. I contemplated taking everything out of this case and installing it just for fun, but that would be a waste of time...

Well bit the bullet and ordered the Epox...

...good idea. man... this system is (hopefully) going to so much cleaner inside than the one I'm on: standard psu -- modular psu flat ide hdd -- sata hdd flat optical ide -- rounded ide 2 optical drives (cdrw + dvdrom) -- dvdrw
