Upgrade decision AM2 CPU board or C2D build ?

Obviously, it depends on your cash flow, I have built 4 amd systems, Since core duo 2 release I have built 3 intel systems, and wont be looking back at amd anytime soon. Core duo 2 or quad is the way to go if you have the $$$$

upgraded to 6600 system wont boot now.

Okay guys, it was the ram. Props go to cure the Sky and Skott and O1die. I am up and going with some trashy vlaue ram from best buy, when I put the gskills back in no boot. What could have caused this??? All I did was change the processor. I know I grounded out first, and I know i didnt touch...

upgraded to 6600 system wont boot now.

I got beeps with just the cpu connected, but once I plug in the ram, nothing no beeps. Does this point to my motherboard or my ram? is there a way to figure it out without hitting best buy?

upgraded to 6600 system wont boot now.

Also want to make sure that if I replace the motherboard I am not going to smoke it too with this cpu? Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply, I tried the one stick attempt already, actually in all 4 slots, I didnt take it out of the case though since it has been running fine for 3 months now. Man this is depressing. I guess I will give this all a try later this week

I think I would buy the 6400 and spend the additional $ on a space heater LOL.

Hey Mark, Could you tell me why you feel this way? My thinking is if a chip has already proven itself on another system and I have my 6400 going at 400 fsb. I would be able to slap the 6600 in , make a few adjustments and off I go. Can you give me a short explanation of why this is wrong...

Hey guys, As stated above, do you feel that and already tested and true, 3.2 system with an e6400 will pretty much give you a guaranteed 3.6 with a E6600 that has already proven itself on another set up?

NTLDR is missing error message with e6300 overclock

First try to back off of your oc, load fail safe and see if that does the trick I used to get that error when I was ocing my opty alot. after I reloaded the fail safe all was good again. Not 100% but a fairly quick and probable solution

Well there are several schools of thought on your mixing a p965 with a 6600, Mostly from what I gather your best bet is to go with a 975 board. 965 is best for 6400/6300. Secondly, I would look for a better cooler, tuniq, 120, or even a zalman 9500. These things are very strange when it comes to...
