the 105 is bigger than the 505 and the IIIc is huge, I am just not so quick to brush a proven prduct from a proven company, compared to the young pocketpc

downloading Mandrake, which ISO to get?

You guys only need to download the inst cd, the other is not required. And any cd mastering suite can burn an iso, at least any good one (nero, toast, roxio, etc.)

The problem is that I refuse to own a pocket pc. I hate the things. THis is of course a sweeping generality, but the interfaces are bad, primarily because i believe winCE is a piece. Have you ever seen a pocketPC crash? I have. And a palm? Not here...

Television movie "White Dwarf"

I was recently trying to think of some great movies I had seen recently and remembered this two episode series TV movie called White Dwarf about a young doctor who traveled to this light/dark planet. Now that was a cool movie. Anyone remember this? Know if it is on video?

why is the GF3 still expensive?

I tend to agree with Pacinamac23, memory yields at this speed are still extremely low, making the memory rather rare, thus invreasing their price and the price of the card

Is *hardware* ATA RAID (Adaptec 2400A) any better than software raid?

In the case of this adapter, the answer is yes. The RISC processors and onboard memory is something that cannot be augmented in software. Although win2k's (i assume you are speaking of win2k) software raid is really good, a card such as this type would definitely out perform it, you get what you...

DVD DMA issues

I just bought an Acer dvp1640a dvd drive and after i installed it windows booted up without the dma box checked. So i simply checked dma and rebooted, only to find that it was again unchecked when i rebooted. I made sure dma was on in the bios for that controller/device, nadn even tried with it...
