Why SSDs are cheaper

You're assuming that someone would actually care about the data, while a lot of people simply care about speed...of course with SSD I think RAID1 would be an easy compromise since an SSD is so fast already...or just no RAID at all...haha.

Mobile Intel Ivy Bridge vs AMD Trinity?

well you'd have to consider that, in order to match the performance of a hyperthreaded dual core ivy bridge chip, the trinity will likely have to be a quad core. judging by what i've seen from amd lately, this will either mean that the ivy bridge notebook would have substantially better battery...

Need to decide: 3570k vs 2500k for a gaming, non productivity build.

as noted, the difference between the two will probably be small enough that by the time one seems "too slow", the other will probably also seem pretty slow. i'd say get a 2500k now, especially if you can find one cheap. then whenever it's too slow, sell it and roll that into the cost of a new...

Worth downgrading to an upcoming i5 3570k or an i5 2500k?

are you really surprised that you didn't see a tangible improvement? it's well known that the 2500k is just as capable for gaming as any other cpu on the market, let alone the 2600k. *especially* when you consider that they can easily be overclocked.

AMD Phenom II X2 555BE vs Intel G850

having owned an athlon ii x3 435 (oc'ed to 3~3.3ghz), a phenom ii x3 720 (4th core unlocked, oc'ed to 3~3.4ghz), and a pentium g850, i can tell you that they are generally comparable, and i think that any difference between them would be negligible, as long as the task isn't heavily threaded. i...

920D to i5 2500k or 2600k can't wait for ivy, board blown!

ok. considering that you're (up until very recently) rockin a pentium d, you will notice no difference between the 2500k and the 2600k. either one will be a huge upgrade. furthermore, don't worry about "futureproof-ness" at all, as even though the 1155 socket is a "dead end", it won't matter...

i primarily listen to 256~320k mp3 on my ipod. i used to use a headphone amplifier (ibasoo t3) and a line out dock cable on the ipod, but it became a bit cumbersome so now i have a 4g ipod touch and i download a parametric Equalizer app (called Equalizer) to get the sound i want.

Best upgrade from a 5770 for $200-ish?

wait wait wait...you want to crossfire/sli 2 big bad cards on a microatx board? lolol...not only will you be seriously limiting your choice of motherboards (as of right now there are 5 am3 boards with 2 pci-e x16 slots on newegg), but you'd better pray that you never need to put in any other...
