As a side note: Are you sure you don't want the WD Black version for the 2.5x longer warranty?
I'm just trying to spread the word - had a WD black go dead on me within warranty, I paid $12 to get it shipped out after printing the RMA paperwork, and I received a working one a week later.
This is unfortunate.
You've done what you can, though. In the end, it's not your fault, and not your responsibility - that friend shouldn't be giving away things that aren't hers to give away, and if the system is unusable, she should pay back the loan money.
If I hear a drive going "Clack clack clack", I instantly assume the worst.
I'd replace it ASAP; when I hear a guy say "I hear a 'clack clack clack' sound", I consider that a good reason to consider the drive inoperable.
Good luck!
Would it be possible to get pictures from the other side and into the system?
I'm about to build a system using a Prodigy also (Orange!), and I'm actually going to be using your same heatsink, the 212, but I'm curious as how much clearance there is between the 212, the GPU, and the RAM...
XP is/was a fantastic operating system.
With that said, I eagerly await being able to say "I'll try, but keep in mind that even Microsoft has given up XP."
Yessss, X-2! I disliked X, never did finish it - I just can't stand Tidus.
But X-2 and the girls?! And the music?! And the costumes?!
All day, baby... All day.
Fantastic news for the Linux community, and for the gaming community in general.
If there's a way I can squeeze out more frames by booting into an optimized Linux environment designed for gaming, I'd be all over that.
I want to work my way through the game, but there's just enough "horror" in it that I have to take breathers; and of course I always end up playing something else that I can handle!
I'll get back to it someday, I promise!
Man, I always seem to miss out on this stuff... I even managed to miss EVGA's B-Stock 760 that was $199.99, while my SO managed to snag it just a few tens of minutes before :(
Oh man, my friends and I just heard about this; super exciting time to be a game dev/game dev hobbyist!
And thank the heavens - no more having to work via UnrealScript...
Although it looks like Blueprint will be good enough for me to crank out a quick prototype!
Is everything still slow in Safe Mode (i.e. iTunes)?
What anti-virus software do you use?
Nothing to note in Resource Monitor? No program eating up CPU cycles or constantly reading to and from disk?
