Your speeds are consistent with my Intel X25M G2 SSD, which is a SATA II SSD.
I googled your motherboard, and it seems you only have access to SATA II speeds, which is capped at 3.0 Gbps. To get the most out of your SSD you'd need a motherboard that supports SATA III speeds which have double...
I should have elaborated: the X1 Carbon had ridiculous shipment delays, like 1-2 month delays, when it came out in August. If the OP were to wait for a new Haswell laptop possibly coming out around that time then shipment delays could cause headaches if trying to get the laptop by September...
That looks like a great deal. But if you are going to wait until September for a deal, Haswell might be out; to avoid the headache of possible delays on a new product (as with the X1 Carbon), it might be better to get the previous, more readily available, T430s generation of thinkpad.
General...
I've lost my faith in both HP and Dell, but mostly because of the $300-400 laptops from 2008 of my friends and family that I've troubleshooted, clean installed, and upgraded. Never again will I get any laptop for that price (new budget laptop specifically), unless it is an old business class...
Holy crap, that is awesome. I would seriously buy one of those just to say I own a Vizio Ultrabook.
OP: Glad to hear you went with the X230. You won't be disappointed with it aside from the trackpad. Use the Two Finger Scroll mod to improve the trackpad, or either use a mouse or learn to use...
Or a business Lenovo (Thinkpad) for better support and less cost than a Toughbook. Though not as extremely durable as a toughbook, business class notebooks --even HP's Elitebooks or Dell's Latitudes-- should hold up very well. I gave my mom a used R61i a year ago and my nieces and nephews abuse...
Ah dang, my fiancee needs a new HDD, and I've been thinking about getting her a hybrid drive, so this deal would be perfect. But she mentioned an SSD would be a great Valentine's gift, of which she would not settle for anything less than 160GB due to her refusal to using external storage for...
Zomg. I was willing to pay $100 for a 60GB vertex 2, but this rebate is like paying $100 for two 60GB SSDs...only in one enclosure of course (i.e. without the benefits of having two separate ssds).
I would so jump on this if I hadn't already bought my [very much loved] SSD.
They just now lowered the price of their 80GB SSDs to $199? I've been seeing that price at retailers for a while now. Good thing I jumped on the $100 G2 Intel 80GB SSD I found on craigslist when it was up. It had 2TB already written to it according to SSD Life, but it's all good.
Mall. At least, that was all I had to do for bad ram last summer. 3 year accidental damage warranty ($250) when I bought this SR290 back in Dec. '08. Good machine and build quality for sure. Consumer grade, yet the hinges are still as good as day one.
