thanks! ... that makes sense.... and I highly doubt that the C4 stuff I have I would even 'try' to run @ 1t.... I fried a set of C3 PC2-6400 on this board and I'm not going to mess around too much more...
guys guys, I'm not asking if I should stick w/what I have.... The question in my title is the following:
which is better for gaming:
1) PC2-10000 5-5-5-18 2t or
2) PC2-6400 3-4-3-9 2t
anyone?
I realize my memory is 'fine'... but after it is all said and done, and with all this new fancy memory coming out... does anyone have an answer to my question?
Age old question...: pure throughput vs. latency... what do you guys think? System in question would be for playing high end games...:
Nvidia 680i mobo
2 GB SLI memory
2 8800 GTX SLI
Corsair Dominator XMS2-10000 cas 5 (2.4 volts) $649 dlvd
Corsair Dominator XMS2-6400 cas 3 (2.4...
I am becoming more and more comfortable w/my 680i and to date, it is rock stable and well supported imho.... so far it is fetching 15k 3dmarks06 and still wants more w/stock cooling. Not one blue screen and install was super easy. Not 1 crash.

I would'nt have... but i got a deal I could not refuse on the other two sticks..... couldn't help my self..... now that being said.... what should I do?
Thanks guys.... this is kind of a tough spot.... upgrade to WinXP 64 bit and loose most driver support for games and such or stick w/32 bit windows and no use of a lot of my memory... what would you guys do?
Video cards have 768 on board memory a piece... I have two of them... I was wondering if windows subtracts that 1.5 gb and somehow leaves me w/just 2.5 gb of my system memory
