Thanks! Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 here, got it for $38 shipped vs the Hyper 212 EVO $58 shipped. The Gaia has a similar base to the Hyper 212+, so I'll use the 2 line method then. Thought well since I saved $20 on a heatsink, why not to get a couple of good fans in push-pull to further improve its...

Thanks, #4: Will a Y splitter for my 2 CPU fans hinder their performance? I'm getting the D12SH-12, which are the high speed versions. I want to be able crank up the fan speeds to their maximum for the overclocking of my FX-4170. #5 Found a sticky article around here discussing this...

TDP after overclock?

Why would I need an SSD? I don't care about faster load times... what else am I missing out on? Do I really need one? The least expensive one around here is a 60GB Corsair for $100

I just need something that is faster than my alternative option, which is for nearly the same price: i3-3220 and cheapest B75 motherboard. I now the 3570K will run circles round the FX-4300 / FX-6300, but please bear in mind that it is a lot more expensive.

TDP after overclock?

One member at Tom's told me that I have to disable power-saving (specifically Cool 'n' Quiet) if I want to overclock. If I don't have to, and I can overclock while maintain the same idle TDP, that would be great! I just need to confirm. 1 person says something, another person says something...

I am thinking of getting an FX-4300 / FX-6300 for my budget gaming and video-editing build, along with either an ASRock 970 Extreme3 or ASUS M5A97. However, I am worried about the power consumption of the CPUs once overclocked. I initially thought that the idle TDP of the CPUs stays the same...

Opinions? Budget gaming PC

Its a mid-tower case, its definitely the tiny mobo that makes it look large. Looking at the embedded stand-offs on the panel, no a full ATX would not make use of the cutout The only gripe I have against my build is the tiny mobo... it just looks silly in there haha! I'm considering selling it...

iRacing CPU bottleneck

Ok fellas, now I am completely baffled! Only yesterday, I was complaining about my i3-2100 not being up to par pushing the 6850 to the limit, with the GPU reaching a mere 70% - 80%, and the CPU fighting at around 90%. Today I fired up the sim as usual. I was completely baffled to find my FPS...
