I decided to get the Pan fz18 @ vanns $299 +FS. I liked that the fz18 has the 28mm wide angle lens and longer 18x zoom vs S5 35mm and 12x zoom. the canon s5 articulating lcd screen is very nice for occasional overhead / under pic.
I recently decided to upgrade from 7600gt to 9600gt. My setup is e6600, vista ultimate, 24" gateway lcd.
1. xfx 9600gt is $40 less than xfx 8800gt.
2. I play wic @ 1600 so the 9600gt performance is more than adequate at that res.
3. 9600gt less heat and power (less cost to operate) I tend...
Save your money. I just bought K's on sale from BB. They sound great. Surround for a pc s a marketing gimmick. On my home theather 5.1 surround. the center channel handles most (90%?) of the sound. The front surrounds provide the stereo. The rear provide minor contributions to the overall...
I'm sitting on the fence too. I am very sensitive to the heat issue. XFX 8800gt fans locked on 100% tells me that the current batch of 8800gt's have heat issues.
That said, i think it makes sense to wait for at least a 9600gt price drop to help in the price/performance eval.
I play wic and crysis. I would like to play them both @ 1920 High Res. That said, the XFX 8800gt that I have my eye on has their fans set to 100%. that tells me that there is a serious heat issue with the 8800gt under load.
The 9600gt is nice but I really want some juice to play these...
I am in the market for a upgrade from a 7600gt.
The 8800gt is a very nice card but has some heat issues, the 9600 is still too new and not a cheap enough yet to represent a big enough price/performance upgrade.
wow...I have a 7600gt and I play wic & crysis on low. So , I even thought about upgrading to a 8800gt. I figure the 8800gt purchase is about what I want and not what i really need.
Based on the limited reviews so far, the 9600gt has given me pause in thinking about upgrade from 7600gt.
I have read that 9600gt offers better performance than 3870 and slight under performance to the 8800gt.
That said, for the games I play WIC and Crysis the 9600gt is an interesting...
I had the same issue. Unfortunately, no my 1705 go 7800 video card is basically dead. Only able to boot in safe mode (low res). Not able to boot normally and have my video stable. I have read of other 1705 owners with their video cards overheating too. Bottomline, $1300 3yr old out of...
