Buddy wants me to OC his amd system, but I only have experience ocing my P4. Hes got a 3000+ newcastle 64 and 512mb of Corsair value select PC3200 on an asus board. Im not planning on maxing it out, but I think it could go up another 200mhz at least.
Should I lower the ram speed and...
They dont let us use our own furniture in our dorms. :(
Geeks appreciate CRTs. Obiously you people talking about color quality and response time prefer crts, while the yuppies are talking about how cool LCDs look when they truthfully arent as practical.
Adding to what someone else said about LCDs being an investment, I bought a 15" lcd from gateway for $360 after rebate 3 YEARS AGO. Since I'll be upgrading soon, I put it up in my local college classifieds and Im getting offers of $200+ (its in perfect condition, no dead pix). ;)
I wouldnt...
My 15" lcd saved me a hell of a lot of desk space in college. I couldnt even fit a 17" monitor on the scrawny desk they had in my dorm without my face being 5 inches from the screen. With the flat panel, I could have a monitor AND a keyboard on my desk. yay!
Expect LCD prices to drop even...
Im building another budget system and Im using a AMD 64 3000 newcastle. This pc is just a budget upgrade until some serious new technologies come out over the next year so it doesnt need to have the most expensive motherboard. I saw the chaintech received a good review in the recent socket 754...
Cuz flash memory is not suceptible to shakage. HDD players with moving parts will start skipping when you exercise with them. Dont believe those dancing ipod commercials - when you move the ipod around like that for more than a minute it will start skipping.
Theres another point here too:
Right now, a $400 card doesnt perform "Twice as good" as a $200 card. Take 9800 pro and X800 pro for example - looking at most benchmark tests, the X800 performs about 40% better than a 9800 pro (dont misunderstand, 40% is quite a big difference). Logically, a...
An ergonomic/natural keyboard would probably be just as good as a standard keyboard at gaming depending on what games you play - I just like having all the buttons closer together when I need to use one hand on the mouse and one hand for the whole keyboard simutaneously for FPS games.
Im building another PC for my roomate, but he's on a very tight budget. Its mainly a gaming rig - he really likes multiplayer FPS. Its going to be based on a 3000+ althon 64 w/ a 9800 pro that I will be flashing to XT.
Im stuck on the mobo. I cant decide whether to go with a CHAINTECH...
"Natural" Keyboards? Are you talking about Ergonomic keyboards? I use them at school and a regular at home. They are awesome for typing long documents or emails - I could type for hours on one of those and never get sore. At home I use a standard keyboard which is IMO better for gaming.
If you plan on overclocking the video card, get an MSI 9800 pro. Its actually the XT hardware in disguise, and will come up as an XT in the device manager. Then all you have to do is raise the core and memory speeds and you've got instant XT\ (albeit with less memory, but that doesnt do much...
