What brand Power Supply are you using? Personally, I have a Seasonic S12 600W and the thing is rock solid. I couldn't ask for a better supply. I am not sure what the price is at right now on it, but I believe I got it for $130 at the time. PC Power and Cooling has really nice power supplies...
Actually, the answer isn't that obvious. With everything Windows running in the background on that 3 ghz, you would be better off with the DC processor. THe 200 Mhz difference isn't that great...
Wait till the 24th of July... Price drops are like half of what they are now...
Then throw in an X2 3800+... make sure the mobo has a new bios to support the X2 tho since it is nForce3
Wait one more day for the reviews of Conroe and then we can all fight tooth and nail to see what is better. AMD should have price drops by then and Conroe should be benched to hell...
When you are buying a system tho, you don't just look at a processor price. You have to look at processor...
Virtualization... Code named Vanderpool for Intel and Pacifica for AMD...
Built into Prescott 2M processors and on... and AM2 I believe...

The 4400+ will do fine in gaming for a while still... once you get to higher resolutions, most games are GPU limited still and rely much less on the processor. If you have OCed to FX speeds... you will be golden. Especially since most games haven't touched that second core yet :)
If you...
If this is the case... AMD is still looking pretty darn good.
If you look at the CPU tests strictly... you can see a nice increase with the Conroe tho. That may be the benchmark you want to look at when comparing the X2 to the Conroe.
Value... haha... the processor price is going to be offset by the insane prices of the motherboard!
I am just saying that everyone compares a 1 year old proc to a proc that isn't even out yet... and AMD plans on cutting prices to compete anyhow... so your value statement goes right out the...
I don't care what anyone says... unless you want the latest and greatest or just ABSOLUTELY need to have 150 fps over 125 fps in a game (which is freakin insane)... your 4400+ will be fine for a while yet. I own the same proc and I love the thing to death. Most games don't even use both...

Looks like AMD is saving the 1MB cache for the FX line.
Not that the performance really differed between the 512 and 1MB anyhow...
