What would this be called?

A guy I know needs to take his HD out of a dead laptop and back it up before sending it in for repairs. The laptop is about a year old. He said you can buy something to put the drive in and copy it. Is that called a hard drive enclosure? I need to know so I can buy it.

Will a recovery disk fix this?

I formatted a laptop. If I get the recovery disk from the manufacturer will it restore it to like new, or does there need to be some sort of OS on the drives in order for it to repair them?

Acer 5100 not waking up from sleep correctly

Issues after installing 9800 gt

500 watt psu, asrock dual sata 2 board with a athlon 64 x2 4200 cpu. 2 hard drives 1 dvd drive. 2gb of ram This is the power efficient card also. It's seated good also. I have the latest bios also I checked the video card fan settings and made sure they werent at the default 30% also

Can't get win7 to find sata drive

I fixed it by removing all my drives and starting the sata up with the winxp disk. I formatted it and then it installed fine

the ios detects the drive fine in the bios and it shows up during the initial post, but not in win7. I also tried to assign it a drive letter but it does not show up there either. I have tried running it in ide mode but get nothing. I cannot find a more current uli driver than the one I have...

thanks, will just get a new mb and cpu. My computer in fine atm, I was just thinking of maxing out the asrock dual board.
