gaming PC + ultracheap laptop
That's the system that I use here at college and it works great. Most people don't realize it, but it's cheaper for the same performance than one system.
i.e. ~$500 laptop for class + $1200 OC'd desktop (top end) will be much faster than a $1,700 gaming...
She wants to sell her system and asked me how much it was worth. I have a good idea, but I wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks in advance for your input.

You said that the card felt very hot to the touch. I'm wondering if the artifacts/crashes that you're seeing are the result of overheating. Try using a program to underclock it (Powerstrip works for this and is free to try). Just don't change the gpu core clock in large increments at a time...
Tyler Durden: It could be worse. A woman could cut off your penis while you're sleeping and toss it out the window of a moving car.
Narrator: There's always that.

Biologically, that phenomenon is known as "positive assortative mating". There can be evolutionary selection for it if a more homozygous (2 copies of the same gene type (allele), as opposed to two different alleles) condition is favored. "Negative assortative mating, where individuals are more...
Me too, though I've had one girlfriend that I thought was a real prospect. After 1 1/2 months she came out of nowhere and dumped me. I was pretty messed up for at least half a year. In the 2 months after we split up I lost 10 pounds, which is a lot for me (6'0", 140lb). Other than that I've...
I've been researching these tonight. That Biostar looks good for the money and will take you to that OC level easily I think. If you don't need the onboard video, this Asus linked below is a little cheaper and got a lot better reviews. It seems to consistently hit the higher overclocks too (300...
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately the reviews for that board say it doesn't like value ram, and that's exactly what I'll be putting in it. Here's another I was looking at:

I am thinking about picking up an Opteron 146 (2.0 GHz) in order to OC it to at least 2.8, hopefully. As such I need a board that can take me at least to 280 MHz fsb. I've searched high and low but can't find one that gets to this range in 939 for less that 100 bucks (I just need OC stability...
I've had the HD 280's for a couple of years now and I really like them for the price. They're definitely a little bulky, but that's what makes them so good at blocking out ambient noise. The 3 meter cord is nice too. The sound quality's definitely better than my $200 Logitech THX speakers. Not...
