Yesterday I reinstalled both Far Cry and the Catalyst 4.5 drivers. I got the following results running Bench'emAll:
Far Cry
Using Max settings.
Map: Fort Demo: BenchemallDefaultDemo

run# 0: Average FPS: 65.19
800x600

All the benchmarks in my last post were on the x800. At this point I'm not interested in reinstalling the 9700 to retest, although it would not really be that hard to do so since it uses the same drivers as the x800.
I have the D3D settings in the control panel set to application preference...
Regarding the Splinter Cell drop. Is this game OpenGL? I Think it may have been affected by the OpenGL settings in the Catalyst Control Panel. I was also testing IL2FB in perfect mode to see if the 4.5s really did fix it(Not really: 7 FPS ->9) and the splinter cell test in my first post was...
UPDATE:
I posted my findings from the first post on the official Far Cry forum as well. It was pointed ou that my framerate with the 9700 seemed low. After looking at the scores others are getting with similar systems it seems as if that is true. Last night I reinstalled the Catalyst drivers...
I got my x800 yesterday and did some very quick benchmarks using the Benchemall program. The 9700Pro benches were taken a couple days ago using Omega 4.3 drivers. The x800Pro benches were done using the drivers that came on the CD. I did not check their version number. I'm using Windows XP...
I ordered my x800 from BB last week and was not expecting it until next week based on the expected ship date posted on BB's site. After reading this thread I checked my order status and found out that my card is on the truck out for delivery. My desk is on the UPS guys route from the service...
What's "Guardband Clipping"? I do not see that in my BIOS setup. Could it be under a different name? I tried all the settings per VoodooSource guide but it's still locking up.
I updated the BIOS to 1005 last night and it added a couple things to the BIOS but It did not help.
Thanks...
I recently upgraded my CPU and Mobo to a Duron 700 and Asus A7V133. I have a Voodoo 5500 card and it locks up when trying to play Janes FA-18. This occurs when the game is switching from 2D to 3D mode. I remember when I first got the V5 last summer I had to change some settings in the BIOS in...
I was just suprised that PowerDVD could not use the V5500 for video acceleration. Actually it plays pretty well in software mode. I close out any unnecessary background apps and I've played full movies without a hiccup. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
Thanks, Frank
I cannot get it to recognize this video card. It's not in the list of supported cards on Cyberlink's website, no 3dfx cards are. It just seems strange to me that it cannot be accelerated with a V5500.
My specs are:
Duron 700 on Asus 133a mobo
196MB PC100 RAM
3dfx 5500
Univ Buslink DVD drive (I...
I have two hard drives, primary [c: and e:] and secondary [d:,f: and g:]
If I boot from floppy into DOS and tell it to FORMAT c: drive will it only format the partition c: or will it format the entire hard drive, c: and e:?
Would I be better off using my MAXTOR disc to reformat the entire hard...
I?m going to upgrade my system from a Celeron 400 on an Asus P3B-F to an AMD system. I?m on a very limited budget and I?m trying to decide which would be better performance/overclocking ability. For about $90 from Mwave.com I can get a T-bird 750 or a Duron 850. I?m planning on getting the Asus...
My current BIOS version is 1003.A I noticed on the Asus site that there are two BIOS updates. Do I need to flash using both of them or can I just do it once with the newest, I think 1006?
Thanks for any tips/info.
